“Here’s the thing about dirty money.  The very people who could stop it are the same people who are making a fortune washing it, dealing in it, moving it, hiding it, and otherwise facilitating the needs of organized crime . . . Most of the gladiators who stepped up to try to make a difference have since walked away with dented armor and the scars of battle. And while Garry Clement’s armor has been dented through nearly fifty years of battle . . . he is unique in that he has never walked away . . . He’s still out there . . . doing what he has done better than most mortals — taking on the dirty money players . . . Garry Clement is a national treasure.”

Jeffery Robinson, bestselling author of The Laundrymen

During his thirty-year career with the storied Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Garry Clement saw it all, from drug busts in small-town British Columbia to undercover missions among some of Canada’s most dangerous organized crime networks. He rose to be the national director of the RCMP’s Proceeds of Crime program and was involved in headline-making cases like the 1989 Parliament Hill bus hijacking. But he grew frustrated with the culture and politics of the RCMP and came to view the force as an institution in desperate need of change. Today, while sought after for his expertise in transnational organized crime, money laundering, and foreign interference, Clement continues to call for fundamental reform of federal policing—a task made ever more urgent in an increasingly complex and dangerous world.

Garry Clement has more than thirty years of policing experience and has received numerous awards and commendations for his work, including from the US Drug Enforcement Agency and the CIA. He has provided training and consulting services in financial crime prevention around the world and is now the chief anti–money laundering officer for Versabank.
